My First Blog!

I'm new at this whole blogger thing, but seeing as I am about to embark on a wondrous journey I feel that I should share my adventure with whoever wants to read about it =D


To put people up to date with what has been going on let's go back to how it all started:
I love Disney always have and I always will. I was born in Cal-E-Forn-I-A and my family would literally invade DisneyLand for weeks at a time multiple times a year. My grandmother was even offered a job as the fairy godmother while we were waiting in line at the Matterhorn one day. Our family also purchased one of the many bricks that landscapes the entrance walkway to DisneyLand. So growing up I thought 'Would it not be just plain magical if I could someday grow up and work at Disney?'
Which brings us to today


While attending my first day of college, there was a poster announcing some Disney presentation on campus and I thought I would go take a look and see what it was all about. The presentation was fun and interesting and I was amazed to learn you could work and live and Disney. I immediately decided that it was for me, however I had to complete on semester of college first. So I waited and waited and after my semester I applied (a little late) and I even went up for a character audition. (Oh right, I live in Miami, FL now so I applied for DisneyWorld). Of course after weeks of anticipation.... I was rejected by a small white envelope with a smiling Mickey Mouse on it. I felt devastated but I did not give up. I took more classes, got several jobs to build up my work experience, and waited out a whole summer. 


Armed with a 3.55 GPA and perfect job resume, September came by slowly and everyday I checked the Disney CP website waiting for them to post up the applications. The moment they did, I raced to my computer and sped through the first of several steps: The Web Based Interview. It was simple asking me questions about my personality and working preferences. Note: always say you like teamwork and that you are a good multi-tasker. They really are a TEAM company. After I finished it took two days to be able to schedule my phone interview. By that time most slots were filled up and I had to schedule it a week later. That's a whole week that thousands of people are applying and possibly being accepted. My interview came and the woman called 15 minutes early. All I have is a cellphone so I was sitting in my car, not able to run the A/C because it's too loud, sweating in humid Florida heat. My phone rang and I could hardly hear the interviewer. I think her name was Debbie. She was nice and I could hear my voice quivering with nervousness as I tried my best to answer every question. She asked about job experience (thank goodness I now currently work at PetSmart) and what roles I was interested in. I spoke passionately about attractions, how the cast members always got to act out a character, even if they weren't a main role. I told her about my family's mask making business and she grew excited about that. After a thirty minute discussion (Long compared to most people's who are 9-15 minutes long) she said good luck and goodbye. 


So now the awesomness part!!!! 
One week... exactly one week after that nerve-wracking day. I checked my email and the first unread stated: CONGRATULATIONS! I literally screamed, cried, danced around my room with my dogs and threw a hysterical fit. I was going to be living and working at Disney! 
I paid my housing fees that very day and picked my arrival date: January 18, 2012. I was accepted for Attractions operator though I do have an audition for character performer October 19, 2011. I am extremely excited cannot wait for January. Goodbye crappy job at PetSmart where I am forced to clean fish tanks all day, goodbye Miami Dade College the most boring place in the world, goodbye Miami, whose temperatures of 90 degrees and 90% humidity drive me insane! I am going to DISNEY!!! I AM GOING TO DISNEY!!!
